Wihayo is the first double distilled premium soju to be made in Europe and marks Smörgåsbord’s first collaborative venture into product development. The brand film had to work hard as soju is still fairly unknown outside of its native Korea. We set about introducing it to the European and North American markets by creating a distinctive illustration style informed by K-pop and Korean graphic design that brought this to life with 2D animation. An accessible and resonant aesthetic that delivers our client’s compelling and emotive story in a memorable manner. The brand film picked up a D&AD pencil in 2017.
